Hundreds of people dressed in their best finery gathered at this event. While the evening started off with Malaysian fashion designers showcasing their designs, it was the Bollywood auction that was the big draw.
The auction, the proceeds of which will go to the Cine Artiste’s Association, featured outfits from ‘Baabul’ and ‘Salaam-e-Ishq’.
The highlight of the evening, however, was when Salman Khan walked on stage auctioning the jacket that he was wearing. Not surprisingly, he regaled the audience with his quick repartee while his fans fell over each other bidding for his coat. In fact, some of the audiences demanded that he bid his shirt too, which he politely refused.
The outfits fetched 87,000 ringgits (approx Rs 12,25,000); though surprisingly Amitabh’s jacket in ‘Baabul’ fetched the lowest price. However, Salman’s jacket alone fetched a whopping 77000 ringgits (approx Rs 10,78,000). The total proceeds were around Rs 24 lakh.
