Salman's ex-driver lands up on his Dabangg set and creates a scene

By: Upala KBR Date: 2010-02-22 Place: Mumbai

Salman Khan is well known to have a soft heart beneath the tough exterior he loves to portray -- sometimes which lands him in trouble.

The story so far...
An eyewitness from the Dabangg sets says, "About eight months ago, Salman Khan had asked his driver Ashok Singh to leave his work. Salman had felt that his driver's behaviour hadn't been appropriate. Salman has faithful old-time retainers working with him for years.

In fact, Salman has been so attached to Ashok that when the driver got married, Salman had even gifted him a flat for the newly wedded couple to stay in. So when Ashok behaved in a manner that irked Salman, the actor felt very let down and asked him to leave."

However what Salman wasn't prepared for was that his ex-driver Ashok would land up on the sets when he was shooting and create and an emotional scene there. "Salman was seated with his group while shooting for Dabangg in Wai when Ashok came in. Initially, when Ashok sent word that he wanted to talk to Salman, the star ignored him.

Finally after a lot of coaxing and wheedling, Khan agreed to meet him and called him to his room. Ashok broke down in tears saying ever since he had left Salman, his life had been in a mess. He begged for his job back. Salman, who is still irritated with Ashok's behaviour, said he had another driver and wasn't looking to replace him. But the truth is with Salman -- one never knows. Tomorrow he just might take Ashok back."

Ho sakta hai
A source close to Salman says, "Yes. It's true that Ashok had come on the Dabangg sets but bhai is a very nice person. Today Salman might ask someone to leave and tomorrow if he feels bad, he might take him back."

Salman Khan remained unavailable for comment.

Salman Khan hospitalised after shooting fire sequence

Mumbai: Actor Salman Khan, who is shooting for his brother Arbaz Khan's debut production 'Dabang' in Satara district had to be rushed to a hospital during the weekend, after shooting a gruelling sequence which required him to run through fire several times.

The scene required Salman to shoot in close proximity with the fire and though everyone insisted on a single shot, the actor took several takes before the scene was canned and ended up breathless because of the smoke.

"Salman wanted the scene to be flawless and ended up getting breathless since he was shooting close to so much fire. He had to be rushed to the hospital after the scene was successfully canned," said a sources in the film unit.

The duo will be blasting, with their signature Psychedelic trance compositions, in the city

He lived as a hippie in Goa for five years and DJ Romeo was eventually introduced to music in general and psychedelic trance in particular a decade back. But being a hippie now, he says, is more about enjoying the freedom, in addition to living a proper life, working and so on. And therefore the name Designer Hippies to their band that has the psychedelic music rocking the parties all over the nation and globally. DJ Romeo along with his brother DJ Deepesh will be in the city for yet another performance at One Lounge.

Born when the hippie culture was on an all time high in Goa the music has spread vastly says DJ Romeo. “We first played for a crowd of 50 that has now ascended to around 10000 people at times. This explains how the music and popularity has grown yet many are not accustomed to the sounds of our music because it is not commercialized which has steadily begun and we too are introducing it at many places with fabulous responses. Also we have been stressing that our music stands for happiness and you do not need drugs to enjoy it,” adds DJ Romeo who also has an acting career and is currently shooting with Salman Khan for the film Dabang.

The shooting of Dabangg in Wai seems to be quite an accident-prone event for the cast and crew. Only last week, Salman Khan was rushed to a local hospital after he complained of smoke congestion when a fire erupted on the sets. Now Salman's co-star in Dabangg, Sonu Sood has landed himself with a fractured nose while shooting for the film earlier this week.

Bollywood Hungama spoke to Sonu who, despite the injury, is continuing shooting for the film in Wai. "Yes...It's true that I got hurt two days ago while shooting. We were shooting a fight scene between Salman and me that is a part of the climax. During the practice, one of the fighters jumped and his knee happened to hit my nose real hard. The pain was quite severe and I was taken to the hospital for an X-ray and scan. The X-ray revealed a fracture in my nose. The doctor advised me bed rest for 3-4 days, but since we were shooting the climax scene between Salman and me I didn't want to delay the schedule. I landed on the sets the very next day after taking some painkillers and shot for some light scenes."

One must say that Sonu has indeed shown true professionalism by continuing to shoot in spite of a fractured nose. He will return to Mumbai in a week's time, after finishing the current schedule of Dabangg in Wai. We wish him a speedy recovery.

Salman Khan Waits For 'Eid Ka Chand' To Set Release ‘Dabangg’
Last Updated: 2010-04-14T16:43:02+05:30

Salman Khan Waits For 'Eid Ka Chand' To Set Release ‘Dabangg’

Salman Khan
This means Slaman Khan’s 'Dabang' team will have to wait for Eid Ka Chand to set for the movie release and why not it is his own home production.

On account of this flick's release Salman has given special instruction to his younger brother Arbaaz Khan, who’s the producer of the film that the film should lift off only on Eid this year.

Moreover, Salman has his own special reason why he is looking especially on Eid because he has lots of expectation from the film which is sure to attract critical appreciation and favorably have the greater chance to make impressive impact at the box office.

Eid day strikes a benevolent chord with Salman as previously it proved lucky for him as ‘Wanted’ made a huge success due to release on the same date and so he continues with the same conviction set earlier.

Since his much expectation from ‘Veer’ failed to mark impact at the box office, this time he is conscious not to concentrate much on costume dramas.

He holds ‘Dabangg’ so precious to his heart that he has put aside some big budget projects with close friends like David Dhawan and Sajid Nadiadwala.

Pressured under home production ‘Dabangg’ , Salman’s brother Arbaaz Khan revealed, “We have locked in on September 30, for Eid. We feel that week will be good for Dabangg . But let’s see if we’re ready on time because we still have four songs to shoot. And then we need a clear three months for the post-production marketing and publicity. So the date is liable to change.”

Surprise guests for Salman and Arbaaz
Mail Today Bureau
April 20, 2010

Salim Khan decided to visit the sets of Dabangg - his sons Salman Khan and Arbaaz Khan's next film. Salim is not known to visit film sets often. So this was considered to be one of those rare occasions.

Maybe, Salim wanted to take a brief holiday, spending time away from the Mumbai heat. Arbaaz declared one fine day that his father and Helen aunty would be visiting them. "We will all lunch together at the location," he said. Both Salman and Arbaaz are close to yesteryear actress Helen, who is their stepmother.

The gathering was a pleasant one with the family talking about Arbaaz's debut production and their good old days in Bollywood.

Salman gives away 100 cycles to school kids in Wai
By: Tushar Joshi Date: 2010-04-20 Place: Mumbai

Fitness freak Salman Khan is known to be a cycling fanatic. He has often said he wants to promote it not just as a healthy lifestyle option but also as a solution to traffic problems in Mumbai.

And while it isn't the preferred mode of commuting in the city, cycles are affordable and therefore, popular in villages. Khan, through his charity foundation Being Human, gifted around 100 cycles to kids who turned up on the sets of Dabangg in Wai.

For the children

A source close to the actor says, "Salman has been shooting in Wai for weeks. Not surprisingly, huge crowds gather to see him. And with it being the summer holidays, huge numbers of students come to see Khan in action. Most are from surrounding villages, and hail from poor families. They have to walk miles in the scorching sun to reach the location. When the Wanted star heard about this, he decided to buy cycles for all of them, so they could commute everywhere easily."

The dildaar Khan even gave away 100 cycles to students from one school in Wai, which comprised children from three villages. "He selected the kids that were: very poor, very good in studies and lived very far awat." Most of these students were girls who travel long distances everyday."

When Salim Khan and Helen had dropped on the sets a few weeks back, they too were appalled to hear that young girls were travelling on foot from far-off villages to see Salman. "They supported Salman's decision to gift the cycles. They plan to gift 50 more cycles to deserving students in the coming days."

Farah's generosity
After the end of the Tees Maar Khan schedule in Malshej, Farah Khan gave away the toys and other playthings from the makeshift nursery she had built for her triplets ” Diva, Anya and Czar ” to the village children.

How, then, does he explain being part of the cast of the Salman Khan-starrer Dabangg? “I’d never say no to Salman. That’s because if I ever need him, all I have to do is call him and he’ll be there,” says Mahesh simply.

Salman Khan's shoot relocated due to ash
Friday, April 23 2010, 10:19 BST
By Will Astbury

Rex Features
Salman Khan was meant to be shooting in Switzerland but the eruption of Iceland's Eyjafjallajokull volcano ruined his plans.

The actor was due to fly to Switzerland to film a scene for his new film Dabangg but the shoot was moved to Dubai when flights were cancelled due to the volcanic ash cloud covering Europe.

"We were to fly today to Switzerland to shoot for a romantic song sequence choreographed on Sonakshi [Sinha] and Salman but now thanks to Eyjafjallajokull, we have had to shift our venue to Dubai," Mid Day quotes producer Arbaaz Khan as saying.

"We tried working out the flights to Switzerland 'til the last moment but it just wasn't happening. We had Salman's dates and didn't want to waste them by postponing the schedule.

"Dubai was always an alternate plan and it worked, so now we are going there. It's an emotional storytelling romantic song filmed on Sonakshi and Salman travelling in a romantic situation, and can be shot anywhere from Ladakh to Switzerland or Dubai."

The next station is… Bollywood

Davina Raisinghani

3 May 2010
Dubai’s brand new metro recently played host to a Salman Khan shoot - and the actor tells us he’s quite pleased with the results

THE DUBAI METRO may be relatively nascent and not in full form just yet, but it has already managed to garner the attention of one of Bollywood’s most well known celebrities.

Last week, the city saw Salman Khan and newbie actress Sonakshi Sinha, daughter of actor-turned-politician Shatrughan Sinha, take to the Khalid bin Walid station (located near Bur Juman) for a six-hour shoot.

“We were shooting a song sequence in which this couple from Bihar has come down here for their honeymoon. And the guy is showing Dubai to his newly wedded wife,” Khan told reporters gathered in his suite at the Fairmont Hotel late on Saturday night.

The sequence - which comprised shots of the two actors waiting at the station’s ticketing counter, taking the escalators down and ultimately a scene on the platform – was part of a series of local shoots for the Khan’s upcoming film, his brother and new found producer Arbaaz Khan’s Dabanng.

“I’m playing a corrupt cop in this film but later on you find out that he’s a positive character. They’re corrupt because their salaries are not high. He sees himself as Robin Hood – he steals from the rich but doesn’t see anyone around who’s poorer than him,” elaborated the actor on his role.

When quizzed on why he frequently tends to favour Dubai as a foreign locale for his films, Khan replied with, “It’s only two and a half hours away and is the perfect blend of the East and the West.

“We’re comfortable here – the crime rate is almost zero and the locals here speak our language; they understand Hindi and English. It feels like home rather than a foreign country where you have to fly fourteen hours, don’t understand the language and feel handicapped.”

Recently, it has been speculated that the original plan of Dabanng’s crew was to shoot this particular song sequence in Switzerland, but was dropped from the itinerary owing to the Icelandic volcano’s ash cloud effect.

However, Khan denied that this was the reason behind the cancellation; “We planned to shoot one song here in Dubai and one in Switzerland. But it started getting really difficult to shoot there because some unit had a problem. We decided to shoot on a set in Bombay instead. The ash effect came in much later.”

Besides shooting in the desert, the actor also had plans to shoot at the Atlantis Hotel. However, the crew was unable to secure permission in time because of the hotel playing host to a sports convention.

Khan also promised that he’s planning a return trip to the city quite soon, for promotions as well as personal reasons.

“I keep coming here. I’ve got most of my childhood friends settled down here. Whenever we get a chance to fit Dubai into a shooting schedule, we’re happy about it.”

Salman Khan, without his lucky charm
By Mumbai Mirror 06 May 10 Add Writer to Favourite

Girlfriends may come and go, but what stays for Salman Khan is his lucky charm, the trademark Feroza bracelet that he sports on his right wrist.
The bracelet, which was very prominent in the promos of Wanted, however will not be seen in Dabangg as it does not work with the look of the star which is that of a fearless cop.

A source close to Salman says, “Salman loves the bracelet and he has been sporting it for more than 15 years. But there is no superstitious reason for wearing it. He got himself this bracelet because his dad Salim Khan wears a similar one. Salman hero worships his dad and copies everything he does.”

Lucky charms and all such things apart, Salman Khan, the thorough professional that he is, immediately agreed to part with the bracelet on the director Abhinav Kashyap’s request.
Meanwhile, after hosting the first two seasons of Sony's game show "Dus Ka Dum", Salman Khan now wants to get the third season on the micro blogging site Twitter as well.
"You know what? I am gonna try and convince the Sony guys to let me play 'Dus Ka Dum' with you just before the 3rd season and during as well," Salman posted on his Twitter page.

Sanju and Salman to have intense action scene in their nexts
By: Subhash K Jha Date: 2010-05-18 Place: Mumbai

Salman Khan in Dabangg and Sanjay Dutt in Knock Out, both actors will be seen in hand-to-hand combat with their adversaries in the climax of their films

Salman Khan and Sanjay Dutt are racing towards the release of their action dramas at around the same time. While in Abhinav Kashyap's Dabangg Salman does some of the most intense action scenes of his life, Sanjay Dutt has pulled out all stops in Knock Out with action scenes that are bone-breaking real.

Interestingly, the climax of both Dabangg and Knock Out show Salman and Sanjay locked in a hand-to-hand combat with their adversary. While in Dabangg, Khan fights Sonu Sood, in Knock Out Dutt is locked in a photo-finish fight with the British choreographer Joey Ansah who directed stunts for Matt Damon in The Bourne Ultimatum. Initially Ansah was only supposed to direct the climax.

Bash like Bourne
Says a source, "Sanju Baba wanted the fight to be as hard-hitting and real as the one between Matt Damon and Joey Ansah in The Bourne Ultimatum. So he suggested to director Mani Shankar that the adversary fighter in the climax should be Ansah himself."

Almost 18 kilos lighter, Dutt has done the most intricate wrist-supported somersault-in-the-air seen in Indian cinema in Knock Out. Ansah has also smashed empty bottles on Dutt's head.

Breaking bottles
Says the director, "Sanju insisted on letting Joey Ansah break bottles on his head. We had ordered special bottles made of brittle glass from Los Angeles but still it was very painful."

So whose hand-to-hand combat would have that optimum impact? Salman's or Sanju's?
Wait and watch.

Salman turns quizmaster online!
========

After a mediocre start on Twitter, Salman’s new game plan is turning the tide in his favour as he is interacting more with his fans now than before.

Reason? Salman’s fetish for playing ‘guess who’ game on the social networking site!

Sallu has been posting innumerable pictures of his co-stars, friends and himself without letting the face appear entirely and thus asking fans to guess whose pictures they are.

The actor gets massive response and so happy is Salman with the comments he gets that he has now started to announce prize money for correct guesses. “Batao kaun hain and where do I send the 100rs?” writes the actor.

The most hilarious of the lot is the recent picture he has posted on Twitter. The picture has Sohail Khan, Arbaaz Khan, Riteish Deshmukh and Dino Morea along with him posing shirtless for a picture without their faces being exposed!

Riteish reacted to this act of Sallu by saying, “I am glad my face was not seen at all in the body shot. It would have been better if my body too wasn't seen.”

Salman’s game plan seems to have worked and no one’s complaining except for err Riteish we guess!

Salman to paint Sonakshi?
18 May, 2010 06:57 pm ISTlINDIATIMES MOVIES

Actor Salman Khan is having a blast shooting for Dabangg, and why not, he seems to be getting along pretty well with his female co-star, debutante and Shatrughan Sinha’s daughter Sonakshi. There was news that Sallu, not only enjoyed doing a rain dance sequence with her, but the actor has also promoted her enough and more on a social networking site.

The latest news to hit town is that Salman is all set to paint a canvas with a picture of Sonakshi’s. A unit member on the sets of Dabanng tells us, “They get along well... Salman is a good painter, he has painted Aamir and Asin previously, now he’s going to paint Sonakshi. They get along well, and share great camaraderie, so the painting comes as no surprise. Even Sonakshi is keen that bhai does a painting of hers...”

We wonder if this chemistry is for real or just a promotion for the film ‘Dabangg’... Unit members state, “It’s for real... but it also helps the promotion, we’re sure. But bhai isn’t that calculative. He is genuinely fond of Sonakshi.”

Salman, the walk man!
Mauli Singh , MUMBAI MIRROR, Jun 8, 2010, 12.00am IST

Salman Khan found the most effective way to catch up on his daily fitness regime while shooting for Dabangg in Wai.

Salman Khan has one of the hottest bodies in Bollywood. But the star’s fit body hasn’t happened overnight. Known for exercising and cycling regularly, Salman is willing to go to any length (literally) to keep fit.

During the shoot of Dabangg in Wai, Salman and the rest of the star cast were staying at a hotel in Panchgani. Since the gym facilities at the hotel were not up to the mark, the fitness freak actor found out a great way to work out. He decided to walk every day from his hotel to the location at Wai.

A source from the unit says, “The hotel is 17-18 kilometers away from the shooting location in Wai. Instead of driving up and down all the way, Salman would walk four-five kilometers up the hill. It was his way of getting his daily quota of exercise.”

“Salman would not walk alone. His entire entourage of around ten people joined him for these long walks, some out of choice and some out of compulsion. In addition to his staff, several unit hands also volunteered to walk with the star. Everyone who is a gym goer thought it was a very good idea to get some exercise by walking up and down the hill. It was crazy to trek in the dark because nothing was visible so the second day everybody carried torches or tried to make it to the top of the hill before sunset,” adds the source.

Though everybody looked tired after the long walk, Salman always managed to look fresh and energetic. “He would reach the sets, have his breakfast and bathe before getting ready to shoot,” says the source.

Arbaaz Khan confirms and says, “Yes, Salman would sometimes drive or cycle or walk up and down from the location to the hotel. It was good fun. I couldn’t join them because I didn’t have enough time as I am the film’s producer. I would always have to stay back for some or the other reason.”

Debutant director and Anurag Kashyap’s younger brother Abhinav Kashyap too confirms the story. When asked if he too joined Salman for these strenuous walks, he laughs and says, “I am not a fitness freak. I joined them once but I got so tired that I gave up immediately.”
