| Fake Salman Khan arrested The swindler By ApunKaChoice Thu, Jan 28, 2010 08:17:57 GMT A man posing as Bollywood superstar Salman Khan on the web to swindle people in the name of charity has reportedly been arrested by sleuths of Anti Terrorist Squad (ATS) in Gujarat. Reports say a man named Gathiya Balam Pathan from Surat had posted the photographs of Salman Khan on the net a few years back and asked people to donate money for a number of charitable causes that Salman endorses. Pathan even gave his mobile number and talked to people posing as Salman. Pathan allegedly conned many people this way and even received three expensive mobile phones gifted by fans to Salman Khan. Reportedly, he also got an amount of Rs. 1 lakh from a female fan of the actor from outside India. However, after a tip-off from a source, the ATS squad has nabbed Pathan. | █ Salman in Prabhu Dheva’s next? █ After the success of his last film ‘Wanted’ Boney Kapoor is kicked about the idea of remaking one more south Indian film in Hindi along with the dynamic Prabhu Dheva and Salman Khan jodi. According to sources Boney Kapoor saw a Malayalam film ‘Bodyguard’ in Ernakulam and has been in awe of it. It is also believed that Kapoor had a meeting with Johnny Sagarika, producer of ‘Bodyguard’. Buzz is that Boney is planning to rope in Prabhu Deva yet again to direct this film with Salman Khan in the title role. When asked, Boney Kapoor confirmed saying, “Yes I went to Ernakulam during my visit to Chennai and saw ‘Bodyguard’ as Prabhu recommended it. It’s a good film but I didn’t go with an intention to buy its rights. Its director Siddhique is quite known and has made a lot of good films. Priyadarshan has remade most his films in Hindi.” Boney ensures that he will be soon working with Salman and Prabhu Dheva. “I’ll be working with them but if you ask me particularly about ‘Bodyguard’, I am not sure as I am yet to decide about its Hindi remake.” It can be recalled that Tamil actor Vijay also approached its makers to remake ‘Bodyguard’ in Tamil. | █ Sony to do new television show with Salman █ MUMBAI: News from Sony Entertainment Television is that Salman Khan has been signed for another season. But it is not for the very successful show, Dus Ka Dum. The actor will be doing another show for the channel for which details are still being fine tuned. Sources from the channel, who do not wish to be named as the show is not confirmed, told Businessofcinema.com, "Salman Khan is the most successful Bollywood actor on the small screen. His contract for last year had to be extended by another 13 episodes as the audiences kept badgering us to continue with the show. But this time when we wanted to renew the deal, Salman came up with the idea to do something fresh. So although he has signed up with us, what the show is going to be, is still being decided." Sony is currently gearing up for another season of Indian Idol. Only post that will the creative team come up with ideas for Salman's show. And as for Salman, who always begs to differ from the ordinary, has to do something quite contrary by moving away from a successful mantra. A friend of the actor says, "Salman has to do it his way. He likes taking risks instead of walking the same rosy path. His fans have always stood by him. Whatever TV show he has come as a guest, be it Farah Khan's Tere Mere Beach Mein on Star Plus or Karan Johar's Lift Kara De on Sony, has been a huge success. We are sure, this time round, he will yet again come a winner." [You must be registered and logged in to see this link.] | |

| Salman Khan makes Aishwarya awkward Tuesday, February 2, 2010, 13:26 [IST] By Raymond Ronamai The recent Nokia Star Screen Awards brought together the who and who of Bollywood – even the 'lovebirds-turned-enemies'. But one scene that made many uncomfortable was when the camera zoomed in on Aishwarya Bachchan when Salman Khan was on stage. Well, Prabhu Deva seems to have broken Salman's bones during the making of Wanted because Salman danced so well at the Star Screen Awards function. Even the kids who danced with him were unbelievable. Everybody seemed to enjoy the item but not Aishwarya and her hubby Abhishek Bachchan. The camera kept turning to the Bachchan couple even as Salman was dancing with the kids energetically. And Ash was caught clapping her hands awkwardly and often interacting with her hubby. She seemed to be in dilemma, with her ex beau dancing on the stage and her hubby by her side. It maybe recalled that Salman and Aishwarya almost bump into each other almost a month ago while they were shooting for their respective films Veer and Guzaarish at a studio. They have not met ever since they had an ugly breakup. Well, Salman and Ash should forgive and forget the past and move on in live – speak to each other and even do films together! | Abu Dhabi-based company wants to give him two domain names We all know about Salman Khan’s generous nature and have also heard him talk about his charitable organisation, Salman Khan Foundation, which offers support to the poor and needy. | The actor plans to go to South Africa to catch the 2010 FIFA world cup. Salman Khan gets ready for kick-ass action! Salman Khan is planning to go to South Africa between June 11 and July 11, to catch the 2010 FIFA World CupTM action live in the host nation. The Bollywood hunk, who's grown up playing the sport, is looking forward to the world's largest, most-watched football extravaganza. It's being staged across eight provinces and nine cities, with almost half-a-million visitors expected to experience the spectacle firsthand. While between 35 and 40 billion "cumulative" television viewers worldwide will follow the matches live on screen. "Sport speaks a universal language," says Salman. Agreeing that the FIFA World Cup is the most awaited sports event in the world, Medha Sampat, country head - India, South African Tourism, says, "There are many attractively priced tour packages available in the market (with match tickets) and we are looking forward to welcoming many Indians to South Africa in June-July this year. Given our expertise with hosting large scale international events, we promise a memorable experience!" [You must be registered and logged in to see this image.]Even without the attraction of watching world class football stars like David Beckham and Cristiano Ronaldo live, South Africa is unmatched as a holiday destination. It's game lodges guarantee sightings of the 'Big Five' - the lion, elephant, buffalo, rhino and leopard. While Cape Town, its premier tourism destination, has the vibe of a big city with lots of scenic beauty, good food, terrific shopping, and adventure activities such as the highest bungee jump off the Bloukrans Bridge and shark cage diving among others! Other attractions in South Africa include Ushaka Marine World in Durban, Sun City, Johannesburg, the wildlife safaris in Kruger National Park, Port Harbour in Port Elizabeth, ostrich rides in Oudtshoorn, the Cango Caves adventure in Knysna. Salman, who's been to South Africa many times on film shootings, played around with Zakumi - the official mascot for the 2010 FIFA World Cup in South Africa. A leopard with green hair, Zakumi gets his name from 'ZA', the international code for South Africa, and 'kumi', which means 10 in various African languages. His motto: "Zakumi's game is Fair Play" while the tournament's official slogan is 'Ke Nako' - 'it is time'. Time for South Africa to change the world's perceptions as it hosts a football spectacular that is African and first-class in every respect. | Shiv Sena brings SRK-Salman closer Shah Rukh Khan is in the midst of a controversy for his comments on inclusion of Pakistani players in the IPL. Khan’s statements didn’t go down well with Shiv Sena who in turn wants an apology from the actor. Shah Rukh has his Bollywood friends standing by him and voicing their opinions in favour for the Badshah. And amongst stars like Abhishek Bachchan, Preity Zinta, Bipasha Basu and others, SRK’s friend-turned-foe Salman Khan has also come out to defend him. Salman Khan openly cited that Shah Rukh had not done any crime, in fact being an owner of an IPL team he had the rights to comment. Salman also added that Shahrukh doesn’t owe an apology to Shiv Sena. Earlier, Salman had congratulated Karan Johar after watching ‘My Name Is Khan’ promos and Shah Rukh in turn had said that he is eagerly waiting to watch ‘Veer’. Though the two Khans haven’t been on talking terms, it seems that they have started taking little steps towards the path of reconciliation. | Salman shaped up John's abs! India Blooms News Service Mumbai, Feb 10 (IBNS) Bollywood hottie John Abraham, whose body sends the adrenaline rushing amongst women, gives the entire credit to Salman Khan. “Salman Khan is the reason for most Indians to go to the gym!” said John at Sony Entertainment Television’s show ‘Lift Kara De’. Filmmaker cum host Karan Johar has a whale of a time with John Abraham this week on the show. Karan even ragged John about his fabulous abs. “The last time I saw you, you were coming out of the water in yellow shorts…” and that too looked overdressed according to Karan! John is game for all the ragging and is surprised to see that his yellow shorts have assumed iconic proportions. Most of the fans, who auditioned for the show, came dressed in yellow shorts! If Karan remembers seeing him last time in yellow shorts then John remembers the first time he set eyes on Karan – as a contestant at the Gladrags contest where Karan was the judge along with Gauri Khan and Shah Rukh Khan, who had draped the sash when he won. | Austrian artist Zwerger's favorite is Salman Khan These paintings have been to space and back Today, Zwerger’s collection includes Amitabh Bachchan; southern superstar Rajnikanth; Bollywood Badshah Shahrukh Khan; dream girl, Hema Malini; Kareena Kapoor; India cricket Mahinder Singh Dhoni and many more. Salman, however, is his favourite. “Salman Khan has a naughty boy image but his face is innocent and sympathetic. And, while Hema Malini was difficult to paint, Aamir Khan was the easiest. | Salman : Wanted more than Akshay?
Salman Khan who has successfully ducked the media after the lukewarm response to Veer is still in demand.
According to trade sources, Salman’s Veer ran to packed houses in territories like Nizam and even collected big money. Incidentally, the films of actors like Akshay Kumar and some other Khans are not given so much patronage out here. Courtesy such territories where he still has a faithful fan following, Salman has producers (especially the Boney Kapoor types) running after him, asking him to greenlight their projects. However, Salman is taking his own sweet time to say yes.

| IPL to name 2 new franchises on March 8 18 Feb 2010, 0031 hrs IST, ET Bureau
NEW DELHI: The Indian Premier League (IPL) will announce two new franchises on March 8, four days before start of the third season, as the
Indian Premier League-3 auction chatter on interested parties continues to rack up and strike out a legion of big names.
The new teams will join eight others only from the 2011 season, but the T20 cricket event will affirm its standing among the world’s richest sporting affairs with a base price of $225 million, more than four times that of the inaugural season. The bidding tenders, said to cost Rs 5 lakh each though this could not be independently verified, would go on sale from February 21.
IPL commissioner Lalit Modi, who announced the dates on Wednesday, had earlier set off a speculation frenzy by revealing the interest of a "very famous" UK football club, though he refused to say which one. Speculation is rife that Sheikh Mansour, the owner of Manchester City, will bid for an IPL team. But the base price, roughly double of what he has spent on the soccer club, is a pointer to IPL’s ritzy status in the sporting world.
Other big names have also been doing the rounds. Hero Honda MD Pawan Kant Munjal had earlier said he could look to bid for a new team as a personal investment while Sahara group said it is exploring the opportunity. There have also been reports that Kerala-based financial services company Muthoot group looking to float a consortium with director Priyadarshan and actor Mohanlal. Bollywood actors such as Ajay Devgan, Sanjay Dutt and Salman Khan have also shown interest in owning a team.

| But according to IPL watchers, consortiums rather than individuals are more likely to bid for the two new teams. Mr Modi said 12 cities-Ahmedabad, Nagpur, Kanpur, Dharamshala, Indore, Cuttack, Gwalior, Vishakapatnam-were in contention for IPL 4. Prospective bidders can choose from cities, of which four will host games during this season. Rajkot, Pune, Baroda and Cochin, which are building stadia, are also eligible for bids, Mr Modi wrote on Twitter. The IPL governing council is launching the bidding process for 2011 before the start of the third season so that the new team owners have not only access to the current event but are also better-equipped for Season 4, said Mr Modi. | SALMAN invtd fanz 4 Cyclothon in Mumbai on 21 Feb Thanks for all the enthusiastic response…Most of you feel it’s not cool to mix movies and cricket with politics. There were a few who felt if the countries are at war, we should not encourage ties like this but here the problem lies within the countries. Both countries are facing the same issues, its not just cross border war …you hear of blasts everyday in Pakistan as well and now the recent Pune tragedy in India with all those young innocent lives lost, I’m really disturbed by it…my heartfelt sympathies to the bereaved families. Talking about life… comes along with it fitness, a subject very close to my heart as you all know. I’m right now extremely excited about the upcoming Cyclothon in Mumbai on 21st Feb. Have been always fond of this sport and been cycling to shoots for years. My first cycle was a Speed king followed by a BSA and now I ride a Raleigh. As a kid, my friends and I were so passionate about cycles, we used to even build our own cycles. The strange thing is while growing up, there were cycle shops everywhere, now so difficult to find one…no parks, no playgrounds...to top it all no cycles! Where do the children in this city go...the Cyclothon is something to get them started and interested in this activity and all the kids in my family are going to participate. There are so many reasons one should take up cycling. A person who doesn’t have a car or some where cannot afford one usually takes an auto or taxi which costs him more and takes longer in traffic hours to travel. If you can cycle around 15 kms a day, you don’t have to work out, cardio ho jata hai, exercise ho jata hai, stay fit and save money. As it is, we are living in a polluted environment, cycle to work everyday, cut on diesel and petrol. If Salman Khan can cycle, so can you! It’s not embarrassing and it’s healthy. I am doing this for Being Human and the proceeds from the sale of Cyclothon t-shirts go to charity. And yeah, am not an ambassador for any cycle company. If I ever become one, I’ll make sure it’s as good as the cycle I own! Well, waiting for my shot, call you guys back soon...right now Dabangg is keeping me fit! Signing out from Wai. Love, Salman [You must be registered and logged in to see this link.] | |
